Alleanza Architecture is an emerging architectural practice in the Newcastle community. We wanted to create a work environment that was inspirational, enthusiastic, bold and bright for our own office. We believe that colour not only is visually stimulating but can also encourage a joyful work atmosphere.

Our brief was to produce a light, colourful work environment with an open plan flexible layout with potential for future growth. All whilst maintaining the character of the building, an old Commonwealth Bank.

The original bank safe was retained as the significant cubic form element to the street front, it was painted a deep aqua with a large ‘A’ insignia painted onto the front elevation creating an impactful presence on Hunter Street. The internal stair to the mezzanine level is highlighted in bright pink emphasising the playful nature of the space.

The Office is open to the north and south creating a natural light filled space, with the high ceiling and long walls there was an opportunity to inject colour into the office. This opportunity arose with the long white walls running north south, we wanted to infuse some of the featured colours on these without having to do blocks of colour. So, we commissioned a local artist, Kiasmin, to create a mural.
